The Starrs Mill High School Speech and Debate Team would like to formally invite you to the Fourth Annual Winfield Scott Debate Classic to be held Friday October 13, 2006 and October 14, 2006. It is our sincere goal to recreate how debate tournaments are hosted in our area we guarantee that your team will leave the Winfield Scott Classic amazed by the hospitality, ease of registration, and level of competition. Last year's competition was among the best in Georgia, and this year will be even better.

 

The first obligation of the staff of the Winfield Scott Classic is to ensure that you and your team are presented with a premiere debate experience. Food and refreshments will be provided by a trained restaurant-style staff that will prepare hot meals throughout the tournament. This same level of hospitality can be found in our Coaches and Judges Lounge where the staff will be preparing a menu of items found in and around the Atlanta area. Sean Bennett, director of Forensics at Starr's Mill, will be overseeing the tournament along with his son, Winfield Scott Bennett IV. Mario Herrera from Grady High School and Richard Bracknell from Carrollton High School will be running the tab room. The Fourth Annual Winfield Scott Debate Classic will also offer the latest technology in tournament registration and tabulation.

 

In an effort to streamline registration and round pairings, the Winfield Scott Classic will be using the Joy of Tournaments online registration and tabulation software. You can register you team online, submit your judges, verify and print all fees, and make any last minute changes with the click of just a few buttons. You may register for the Fourth Annual Winfield Scott Debate Classic by locating the online registration page at www.joyoftournaments.com . You may register and make any changes to that registration up until the day of the tournament.

 

The Winfield Scott Classic also offers an amazing opportunity for an increased level of competition. It is our hope that the unique tournament schedule will encourage competitors to stretch their forensic abilities into new areas. With the exception of Policy Debate, all events will allow for cross entries or double entries. The staff of the Winfield Scott Classic has also done everything possible to invite some of the finest debate programs form around the nation to Peachtree City, Georgia. It is our sincere desire that your team experience the best that the nation has to offer in forensic competition.
