The Starrs Mill High School Speech and Debate Team would like to recognize those coaches and members of the forensic community that have distinguished themselves in the service of speech and debate teams around the nation. In order to honor those professionals for their untiring efforts, we will be giving out several awards to coaches and community members in the various stages of their careers. These awards will be given out at the coaches lunch on Saturday afternoon. To nominate anyone for these prestigious awards, please contact the tournament director directly for more information.

 

The Richard Bracknell Cup for Outstanding Commitment: The Richard Bracknell Award for Outstanding Service is awarded to coaches that have distinguished themselves in their undying commitment to their teams. The merits of the coachs program, the years of service provided to the program, and service to the surrounding forensic community are the three criteria used to determine the award recipient. The award winner will be presented with an engraved cup acknowledging their merits and date of award. Each years beneficiary will be responsible for awarding the following years award.

 

The Mario Hererra Key for Outstanding Coaching: The Mario Hererra Key for Outstanding Coaching is awarded to coaches that have distinguished themselves in the area of forensic competition. The strength, depth, and size of the coachs program will the determining factors in the awarding of the Mario Herrera Key. Recipients will be coaches who constantly push the boundaries of forensic competition and high school competitive performance. The award winner will be presented with an engraved silver key honoring their tireless effort to achieve excellence. Each years beneficiary will also be asked to return and honor the following award winner.

 

The Winfield Scott Silver Star for Dedicated Service: The Winfield Scott Silver Star for Dedicated Service is awarded to those outside of the coaching community that have provided support for debate programs. Community leaders, parents, and school staff and administration are all eligible to receive this great honor. Please contact the tournament director to nominate someone who has directly affected the success of your schools program. Honorees will be invited to the coaches diner and awarded an engraved silver star for their diligent commitment to your program.
